Magical Music

La Musica International Music Festival comes to Sarasota this month! This chamber music festival offers patrons the opportunity to view every part of the chamber music experience, from practices to performance. Join the musicians at rehearsals and see some of the world's best chamber musicians play together for the first time, then finish off the festival viewing the finished product at one of the many concerts. Open forum discussions are held throughout the festival with the musicians and artistic directors as well. Truly immerse yourself in the fine art of chamber music this month from April 6 to 17.

Tickets are available for rehearsals, performances, and discussions and can be bought by the day/event or for the entirety of the festival. You can buy tickets online here.

The Camp Collection

Winter gets all the credit for being the best time of year in Sarasota, but our selection of summer camps makes us a fantastic summer destination as well! My two granddaughters visit me every summer for a month to participate in some of the most unique camps in the country. This year, they'll be doing Opera Camp and Circus Camp -- Where else could you get such an experience?! For more information of the wide variety of camps in Sarasota, take a look at my blog here.

Simply Sage

An old downtown favorite has gotten a breath of fresh air. The historic Sarasota Times building on First Street, former home of Ceviche Tapas Bar, is now home to Sage, a world-cuisine restaurant with an ever-changing menu using only the freshest of ingredients. I was able to visit this soon-to-be downtown favorite last week and wow -- The Beauty & the Beast-style ambiance creates an old-world romantic setting for their fine cuisine.

The dining room menu, while delicious, can run on the pricey side. The affordable way to enjoy Sage is to visit the chic rooftop bar, which boasts beautiful city and water views, interesting décor, and fire pits for breezy evenings.

Festival Fun

It's that time again! The Sarasota Film Festival kicks off next week to bring Sarasotans a taste of Hollywood, complete with celebrity appearances (Greg Kinnear, Blythe Danner, and Anne Heche are all expected). The festival launches Friday, April 5 with a party at downtown's The Modern, and wraps up on April 17. You can find tickets to the various showings, talks, and special events here

Holiday Happenings

Easter is coming up this month and there is no shortage of things to do on Easter weekend! Take the whole family to an Easter Egg Hunt (there are large community hunts in Greenbrook Adventure Park in Lakewood Ranch on April 13, Southside Elementary and Benderson Park on April 20) or perhaps enjoy a quieter morning with a lovely brunch downtown at Evoq @ the Westin, Marina Jack's, or Boca.

Happy Passover! Enjoy this time of year at one of our many Passover Seders on April 19 (from 2-4pm at the South Gate Community Center, starting at 7:30pm at Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch), or bring the kids out on April 14 for Passover Pandemonium
