Wandering Walks

All our Art Walks are back! The air outside is cooling and with that comes the fun and events of Season, including walks through our gallery districts in Sarasota, Palm Avenue and Towles Court. Don't miss this month's walks:

  • Friday, October 4 from 6-9pm on Palm Avenue

  • Friday, October 18 from 5-9pm on Towles Court

Restaurants in Rosemary

As the buildings go up in the northeast corner of downtown, the Rosemary's Districts options keep on coming. The expansion in this area of luxury developments like BLVD and Zahrada have led to the addition of several fantastic restaurants north of Fruitville. Take a drive down the Boulevard of the Arts and try these new Sarasota staples.

Spice Station - 1438 Blvd of the Arts. Hailed by many as some of the best Thai in town, Spice Station has quickly become a downtown favorite. When I visit, my go-to is a curry with an edamame appetizer, and the flavor never disappoints.

The Overton - 1420 Blvd of the Arts. Great for a quicker but still delicious lunch, the counter service at The Overton reminds me of days gone by with a modern twist. In addition to a great lunch, they serve up cocktails, espresso & coffee, and ice cream, so no matter what kind of pick-me-up your day needs, this is a great option.

Festival Fun

Next weekend plays host to three very different festivals in our area. Take a look at all the different ways to spend a weekend in Sarasota:

Downtown Art Festival - October 5 & 6 from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily at Five Points Park. Free admission to this arts & crafts festival.

Water Lantern Festival - October 5 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Benderson Park. Experience a sense of magic as hundreds of water lanterns are set out onto the waters at Benderson Park. This one requires a ticket, and you can find information on that here.

Pirates & Rum Festival - October 5 from 5:00pm to midnight at Van Wezel. Celebrate International Rum Day with some of the best rum around and enjoy a night of pirate's delight right on Sarasota Bay. Ticket information can be found here.

Season of Selling

These past couple months have been active in the real estate market. I have been fortunate to help friends and clients buy and sell recently, including selling my friends' Siesta Key waterfront home one day and closing on their new Rosedale home the next. Another quick turnaround was this lovely listing, which was under contract less than 48 hours after going on the market last week.

The market is awakening after a long summer. August statistics show a steep increase for both homes (27.6%) and condos (19.9%) going to contract, and closed sales were up 7.4% for homes and 6.4% for condos. These are both good indicators for an active buying and selling market this season.
